Josh,

Just your name, Joshua Cale Bodle, is one of Strength and Character. Joshua is a name that goes way back into the old Testament. It is not one that God will likely overlook nor forget.

When Moses died, God charged Joshua with the responsibility of the Jewish people and their lives. Josh, you have been given a responsibility. Whether you recognize it or not, you are special to your people, to your friends, to your family. They all look to your strength and to your wisdom. For IT has been Charged to you by God.

No one knows the test that has been given you. When you pass this test, all will know it.

You might have been reserved with your words, like your dear father, Virgil; but, when you speak, others listen. Speak well when you talk. Make every moment count. Lasting impressions are the ones that we all build into memories. Make your memories in the distant future the ones that your daughter and all others will be proud to cite in your name.

Lo, it is Josh.
He will show us the way.
He will guide us across the desolate lands into the oasis of the Living.

We look to his smile,
to his light within.

Those that guide us
To the righteous path.
-----------
If this all seems "too heavy" for you Josh, fear not. You are strong. You will come to understand the meanings of these words (if you don't already).

Your neighbor and friend,
Roger

To My "other" Family,

I wish that I could be there with you guys...because I know you have had no visitors ;) but I am there in spirit.

At Walter Reed when a soldier first arrives, there is a wonderful man, named Chaplain Kallerson who presents them with dog tags that read:
"I will be strong and courageous. I will not be terrified or discouraged; for the Lord my God is with me wherever I go."
Joshua 1:19

I have many friends who wear those dog tags and find strength and comfort in their message, even in their darkest hours.

I have one that hangs from my rear view mirror and this morning on the way to work the sun was shining on it and I realized that it was from the book of Joshua and that I must share it with my dear friend.

Josh you are the closest thing I have ever had to a brother and I love you dearly. Hang in there and when you get to feeling down think about the time we shoved 4 quarters between Peyton's front teeth. :) I will see you all soon.

All my love,
em
